Paula’s black and white Sunday this week is all about Light.
One of the things I do love about winter is how trees become so beautiful with their bare limbs free of leaves so that the structure shows against the sky. Sometimes, as in this case, the sky behind also has a beauty of its own with interesting cloud formations and shooting into the sun produces a monochromatic image without much post-processing required.

Love that moody sky Jude!
Something to be said about winter skies.
Volumes 🙂
Such dramatic shots.
A dramatic day weatherwise!
Love the first image you shared with us. I always enjoy looking at silhouetted trees.
The second image is the same, but closer in and the clouds had changed even in that short time (very windy day). Glad you enjoyed them Colline 🙂
Oh yes, nice shots
I love winter light too – creates such beautiful views without the overhead summer glare
Yes, the low sun creates a very different light.
The lower zoom shot makes that cloud seem really threatening!
Regards as always, Pete. x
Hah! It was rather Pete. The only sunny day we experienced during a week in Pembrokeshire at Christmas a few years ago. It was also VERY windy!
I couldn’t agree with you more. The stark skeletal silhouettes of the trees against a moody sky with the light of the sun peaking out is beautiful!
can you be my script writer please?
hahaha! It’s early in the morning and I’m still nursing my coffee. Sometimes I get lucky 😉
… but I must say, I just noticed the alliteration. It was unintentional, but it works and I really like it! 😀
So beautiful
Beautiful trees reaching towards the heavens.
I love the bare structure of trees.
A little ominous – did you get drenched shortly after?
Just a little!
Lovely dramatic photos. I agree with you.
The light in winter is so beautiful when captured like this…as you do. I hope the packing is going as well as it can Jude and you can enjoy a good weekend 🙂 xx
