Heyjude

I now live back in the UK, but spent several years travelling the world and then living in South Africa. I look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. You KNOW we won’t! 🙂 And these are just your rejects, Jude! What a great photographer you are, as well as being a blooming good friend! The ram is crazy and I love the art effects one but my favourite is probably the tiger’s head 🙂 Shall we start a poll?
Happy New Year to you and I hope it all works out to your satisfaction. 🙂

    1. Did you see Pete’s remark about a calendar? I should have thought of that myself. But then I would have dozens of calendars – a year of benches by the sea, benches in the garden, benches with people… I love that animal head, can’t decide what it is though, some sort of cat – leopard, tiger. HNY to you too – out celebrating? Or join me in a hot chocolate!

      1. No, missed that comment? 😦 and I wasn’t sure what kind of cat either but I liked it. Been to see the Star Wars movie with Mick and James. Soft spot for Harrison Ford 🙂 Made a very winey spag bol and am now hot on catch up 🙂 Will be joining Gilly watching Jools and then the fireworks. Will raise a mug to you 🙂

        1. It must be a pasta evening, mine was carbonara. Now going to catch up with the Agatha Christie thingy that was on whilst we were away, then watch the fireworks over the Thames. Can’t be doing with Jools, his Hootenanny calls irritate me…

    1. There must be a bench group somewhere too! Great thought for a bench calendar – I may do one next year 😀
You out partying tonight Pete? Or curling up with a wee dram 😉

  2. ha,ha, the calendar idea is so cool. this challenge was so inspirational for me ( the whole idea of one subject over the year with a slight modification each month – wood, metal, b&w…. an eye-opener I tell you). nice picks for ‘director’s cut’ 🙂
I wish you a happy new year, Jude, and all the best for the 2016.

  3. I’ve no idea why these weren’t in the finals, they’re fab, especially the lion and Kiftsgate. That sheep blokey is a bit off the wall though I must say.
We’re definitely meeting in 2016, early lunch in Totnes followed by Dartington. If we miss the witch hazel, then we’ll catch the magnolia or the summer border! Happy New Year love, Gx

  4. Jude – we will truly always think of u with with benches – at least for the first part of 2016! But maybe the flower blog challenge will be a soothing replacement – 😏 enjoyed the selections for this ta-da post! Happy new year!

    1. I was going to write about the walk up to the summit, but never got around to it. Only a small hill, but with a lovely view. Fortunately there were other benches at the top which were less precariously positioned than this one!

  5. All beautiful bench photos, but my favourite is the bench with a view. You know, I took a photo yesterday of some wonderful benches at Lahaina on Maui, especially for you and wondered if I can do more bench posts even though the challenge is finished. I will continue to collect photos.

    1. Of course you can continue to post benches, it’s your blog, you can do anything you like and as I follow you I will see them too, so win-win 😀 😀
(and tbh I also took some bench photos over Christmas, obviously I am not yet cured)

  6. You really hit the spot with your bench challenge Jude and like every one else it will always be “there’s a bench for Jude” Love this group of last selections. I think the ram one is classic, but especially like the autumn leaves one at Wisley. NYD has been and gone and already 3 days gone in 2016. Have a happy one Jude. Now I’m popping over to look at your new challenge…

  7. A lovely selection Jude. I love the snowy one. Probably partly because I would prefer to see snow than all this rain.
And I couldn’t resist doing yet another nech post this week – ones in flood water!
HNY and I’ll join your garden challenge when I can.

  8. In answer to your question… No, I will never be able to look at a bench again – in fact I was doing it only yesterday morning in the mall where I saw the Christmas benches. My hand was on my phone to get it ready to take pictures of the latest decor on them, but I persuaded myself to put it away! 😀
I love your round-up of the year – the ram in Canberra made me smile, and I really like the stillness of the bench by the pool in the Cotswolds oh, and a picture with snow on it is almost always a winner with me!
