Ahwiyah – Quiet Water

THIS WEEK, IN A POST CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHOW US AN IMAGE THAT SAYS REFLECTION.

I have blogged about Yosemite before; it is a place where I felt the opportunity to reflect on life. It seems appropriate to use this image for this week’s photo challenge.

Postcards from

A boulder reflected in mirror lake, Yosemite valley. February 2012.

The Mirror lake, where stars and mountains view,

The stillness of their grandeur, and the hue.

Imperishably pure beyond all things below,

Traced in the crystal wave of cold Nevada’s snow.

Heyjude

I now live back in the UK, but spent several years travelling the world and then living in South Africa. I look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

    1. I think this is my favourite photo of all the ones I took there. It was just before the huge snowfall so the clouds were gathering and the water so still.

  1. Nice interpretation of the Reflections theme! One day I’d like to see that place, although I understand you can no longer drive cars into the main part. It’s surely a beautiful place, that’s for sure.

As for me, I just happened to take a bunch of reflection photos Thursday (what a coincidence that it would the this week’s theme!) and you’re welcome to come and see what my take on the challenge is.

    1. Thanks Cris. You can drive into the valley and use the shuttle bus to get around (in winter you could use your car too, but we didn’t have one). Not sure if that has changed. The Mirror Lake is drying up though, so if you want to see it I suggest you don’t wait too long! Nice reflections yourself by the way – trees in water are always beautiful.

      1. Thank you, Heyjude. The place where I really love is the Four Corners area of the SW of the US. It’s amazing rock formations and colors are truly inspiring. 🙂

        1. I’ll check that out. Thanks. I appreciate that.

No doubt, Yosemite is very beautiful. I’ve seen a lot of photos of it, as well as some really nice videos of its highlights.

        2. Okay, I was a little misleading when I said the Four Corners area. What I meant to say is the Golden Circle around the Four Corners area, which you HAVE been to, judging by travelogue, which I am enjoying. Again, I appreciate the link. I like anything in the four states connected at the official Four Corners area. 🙂

        1. Glad you like 🙂 As you can see there is very little colour – it was in February and the sky was pregnant with snow!

    1. My favourite. I was just trying an Ansel Adams moment with the B&W but I think it works well. The colour shot is quite subtle at that time of year. Thanks for your lovely comment.
